My artwork is a mixture of abstract and realistic depictions of the world I encounter.
I primarily make paintings and photographs of landscapes and specific elements that catch my eye such as water, trees and light. Creating images in close-up, brings me a better understanding of them in the context of the world and impresses their richness on my life.

I have loved using my hands and making art since I was a child. Each new piece of art I make teaches me something about how it my life fit together. It helps me seeing where I’ve come from and where I am in the present. This allows me to share some of the beauty and mystery I see with each piece.

I find that the physical repetition needed in painting calms me versus the intense cognitive energy needed to make photographs that stand out. I use painting or photography to turn my internal energy into something beautiful in reality.

Some of the influences in my artwork includes meditation and buddhist study, the poetry and beauty found in nature, macrophotography’s intensity of composition and many mid-late 20th century painters and artisans.
